The 21 kilometres from the airport to the city are best covered with a rental car, which can be picked up directly at the terminal. We recommend booking a rental car in advance, as some operators do not allow for same-day rentals. The flight time from Helsinki to Tampere Pirkkala (TMP) is just over half an hour. From the airport, Tampere is just 15 kilometres away, whilst Pirkkala is only four kilometres away. It’s important to note that Tampere Pirkkala airport is also used by the Finnish air force, so restrictions on take-offs and landings can occur. A flight by private jet from Helsinki-Vantaa to St Petersburg (LED) will last a little less than an hour and the centre of the Russian city is a mere 14 kilometres from the airport. Within Scandinavia, a charter flight from Helsinki to Stockholm-Bromma (BMA) takes about an hour. Again, it’s worth noting that owing to noise pollution regulations, flights to the Swedish capital can only land and take-off within a strictly controlled timeframe. Flights from Helsinki to Moscow Vnukovo (VKO) take about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Due to the terrible traffic congestion in the Russian capital, a helicopter transfer from the airport to the city is recommended.
