Private Jet Charter from Nice
Nice Airport lies seven kilometres west of the French port city. It is the third largest airport in France and the main international airport on the world-famous Côte d'Azur. The airport’s two runways permit the landing and take-off of all types of aircraft, including private jets. Owing to the airport’s close proximity to the principality, Nice Côte d'Azur also serves as a destination for private jets to Monaco.
Nice Airport: the Aviation Hub of the Mediterranean
Unique amongst the coastal towns of the French Riviera, Nice has a long history of aviation. As early as the beginning of the 20th century, the city served as a venue for major air shows and a starting point for flights to the nearby island of Corsica. In the 1920s, the airport had only one runway and was used solely by the local airline. After it’s re-opening in 1944, Nice Airport, located directly on the Côte d'Azur, gained its first asphalt runway – the other came in 1978 – and quickly became the main aviation hub of the Mediterranean region. Due to the increase in flights and ever larger aircraft, the original runway was expanded and renovated. A large part of the airport, in particular the area where the main southern runway is located, was built on man-made terrain created by an extensive programme of earth deposits and land extraction.
