Private Jet Charter to Madrid Barajas

Madrid Airport (MAD), the largest airport in Spain, is an important hub for international flights to Latin America, in addition to European destinations. It is located approximately 12 kilometres outside of the town centre and features four runways.

Madrid Airport (MAD)

The planning phase for Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas Airport, commonly known as Madrid Barajas, began in 1920. It was originally intended to replace three existing airports and to provide enough room for an expansion at a later date. The airport was named after the former Prime Minister Adolfo Suárez and in 1931 it began operating with unpaved runways. The first paved runway followed in 1944 and with that, Madrid Barajas became known as one of the most modern airports in Europe. Today, Madrid Barajas Airport features four major runways, which can be used simultaneously for take-off and landing through the means of a monitoring system that was introduced in 2006; this system allows for up to 120 flights per hour.

Private Jet Charter: Madrid Barajas Connections

The Adolfo Suárez Airport is located just 12 kilometres north of the town centre, approximately 609 metres above sea level. By car, the journey to Madrid takes approximately 30 minutes. Important areas such as Bolsa de Madrid, Cuatro Torres Business Area, or the luxurious Barrio de Salamanca can be reached in just 15 to 20 minutes. Madrid is an important hub for air traffic to Latin America and a good starting point for the rest of Europe. A large number of European destinations can be reached in no time:

A charter flight from Madrid to Barcelona (BCN) takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. The journey from the airport to the city, which is about 15 kilometres, should take between 20 and 40 minutes by car. Taxis and rental cars can be found outside terminals 1 and 2. Flying from Madrid to Paris Le Bourget (LGB) takes 2 hours and 10 minutes, and the distance between the business airport and the city centre is 16 kilometres. Outside the airport, a limousine service is available for a comfortable and discreet transfer, and so too are exclusive rental cars. A flight from Madrid to Málaga (AGP) takes about 1 hour 10 minutes. The international airport serves the regions of Costa del Sol and Andalusia. From there to the city centre takes about 20 minutes by car. A flight by private jet from Madrid Airport to Palma de Mallorca (PMI) takes a private jet approximately 20 minutes. The quieter places on the southeast of the island are best reached by helicopter; a helicopter shuttle from the airport ensures a comfortable and discreet transfer to your desired destination. The non-stop flight from Madrid to Ibiza (IBZ) should take a private jet about 1 hour and 10 minutes. The seven kilometre journey southwest to San José, one of the main towns on the island, takes just ten minutes by car.

To ensure your time spent at the airport is as comfortable as possible, there are various VIP lounges available at Madrid Airport for private jet passengers to take full advantage of – all you need is your priority pass. Some of these lounges are open 24 hours a day. They offer the following features and services:

  • Exclusive catering
  • Offices and conference rooms
  • Relaxation rooms
  • Private check-in and security check
  • Assistance to the aircraft
  • Kindergarten

With a total surface area of 2,400 hectares, Madrid Barajas Airport is Spain’s biggest airport. A total of 342,601 flights were handled in 2014 and more than 50.4 million passengers passed through the airport in 2016. As the airport can operate under both Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and Instrumental Flight Rules (IFR), landing in bad weather conditions is possible. There are four runways available for use by both business flights and commercial flights:

Runway Length and width Surface
14R/32L 3,988 m × 60 m Asphalt
14L/32R 3,500 m × 60 m Asphalt
18R/36L 4,179 m × 60 m Asphalt
18L/36R 3,500 m × 60 m Asphalt

There are no universally restricted time periods at Madrid Airport: theoretically, private jet charter at Madrid Barajas is available 24 hours a day. However, between the hours of 11pm and 7am, only quieter aircraft can land and take-off.
