Book a Private Jet to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

Schiphol airport is the third biggest airport in Europe and is located about ten kilometres outside of the Dutch capital. There are six runways of varying lengths and widths to accommodate flight traffic. The airport operates to the highest standards, offering passengers an excellent array of services.

Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) Airport

Amsterdam Airport is the Netherlands’ main airport and it stands on deeply historic land. About 400 years ago during the Dutch War of Independence, naval battles were taking place where aircraft now take off and land. Known for its violent storms, it wasn’t until 1852 that the Haarlemmermeer municipality was drained, taking five years in total to be completely dried out. In the north-east of the area a fort was built and named Schiphol, as the airport would also later be called. The site opened in 1916 as a military base, and four years later was converted to an aviation centre entirely for civilian use. As early as 1935 four asphalt runways had been installed.

A special feature that makes a flight to Schiphol so popular with art lovers is that the airport houses an external branch of the Rijksmuseum. Visiting the ever-changing exhibit is free, but because it is located behind the passport control desk entry it is only possible to enter for passengers either coming to, or those that have a flight from, Amsterdam.
